AFL 2023: Fifi Box interested in Jason Dunstall after bachelor of the year nomination

Fifi Box says she would be open to dating Aussie football legend Jason Dunstall.

The radio show host made the surprising comment this week that she would “consider” the Hawthorn great.

Dunstall, 58, was last week named one of Melbourne’s Top 15 bachelors by The Herald Sun — putting the conversation around the footballer’s love life back in the public eye.

The popular footy commentator has repeatedly left his TV and radio colleagues in fits of laughter when it comes to the subject of his surprising single life.

Dunstall caught Box’s eye as she had a look through the Herald Sun’s list.

“He’s the only one I’d consider,’’ Box said to her FoxFM breakfast show co-hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody.

The comment got Fevola all excited.

“Would you take ‘Chief’ out,” he said.

“Just say I’m having lunch with him, he says, ‘I’ve always liked her’ … and you went out for dinner and then you got married.”

Box responded by saying they could just have a “fun time”.

“Why does it have to be dinner to married,” she said.

“Why can’t it just be dinner and then a fun time?”

Box may not know what she is getting into with the eligible bachelor.

Dunstall has in recent years been forced to address his romantic life in public after repeatedly being asked about it on Triple M’s Friday Huddle.

Dunstall said last year he loved his life too much to return to the dating game — but said shortly after he’d enjoyed meeting women through the Bumble app.

After being the butt of jokes by colleagues Nathan Brown, Luke Darcy and Damian Barrett, Dunstall said he’d had four dates in a week after downloading the app.

“I love myself. I am in love with myself. And we are very happy together,” Dunstall said with a laugh last year.

“I enjoy my own company. I’m a very selfish man and I love running to my own clock. I love my life.”

Brown’s wife Kristine, however, said Dunstall is a catch when asked last year.

“He looks like a man,” Brown said of the feedback his wife gave.

“A strong man’s man. No frills. No fuss. A lovely man who would stand by his girl. Jason looks like a man who you would feel safe with. A gentleman and a man who knows how to handle himself.”

Dunstall was also the butt of jokes across Gather Round in the AFL last weekend in the days after the bachelor list was published.

Crows coach Matthew Nicks was laughing about it when speaking to Dunstall on Fox Footy before his team’s win on Thursday night.

“Before I go, I do want to congratulate Jason on the bachelor of the year stuff,” Nicks said.

“It’s about time. I can’t believe it took them so long. Here’s to the bald guys, Jason.”

Blues coach Michael Voss was also happy to have a laugh in the pre-match interview.

“Can I just pass congratulations onto Jase as well for being the most eligible bachelor,” he said.

“It’s actually just come into the change rooms. When we found out I just felt compelled to pass on congratulations to you.”
